Two veteran fighters battle it out for the UFC lightweight championship as Charles Oliveira of Brazil faces American Dustin Poirier on December 11.

Two veteran fighters battle it out for the UFC lightweight belt, as reigning champion Charles “Do Bronx” Oliveira of Brazil goes head-to-head with American Dustin “The Diamond” Poirier at the main event of UFC 269 on Saturday, Dec. 11.

The five-round fight will take place at 10 p.m. ET / 7 p.m. PT at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, with several bouts to be held during the event.

Knockout winners

Oliveira boasts a 31-8-0 record, with 10 wins by knockout and 19 by submission, while his challenger Poirier stands at 28-6-0, with 15 knockout wins and six by submission.

It promises to be a thrilling match between the two 32-year-olds. The Brazilian holds the record for most submissions in UFC history, as well as for most finishes.

But Poirier has quite the record himself- as of June this year, he has been ranked #1 in the UFC lightweight rankings. The statistics show that the Louisiana native packs quite a powerful punch, having a 54% knockout percentage in his wins, compared to Oliveira’s tally of 32% knockout victories.

Highly-ranked, pound for pound

The American is also at #5 in the UFC men’s pound-for-pound rankings, while Oliveira is at #8.

Both fighters have seen action in the cage for more than ten years, although Olivier has more experience, with five fights more than Poirier tucked in his belt.
